ALLIANCE, OHIO, Nov. 05, 2021 – Alliance-based Morgan Engineering has once again partnered with the Alliance City School District to promote the importance of safety among the district’s elementary school students.
The company’s Safety Calendar Drawing Contest, now in its second year, invites students from kindergarten through third grade to draw and color a picture that relates to the theme of home, workplace or school safety. The drawings are submitted to classroom teachers, and representatives from Morgan select 12 winners to be featured in the Company’s annual Safety Calendar.
“At Morgan, we put safety first in all we do – from improving our customers’ operations to building a culture of safety within our own facilities,” said Alexa Stanton, safety coordinator at Morgan Engineering. “This contest helps us reach students with the important message that safety matters for everyone – at home, school and work. It’s also been a great way to help us connect with students in the Alliance community where our employees live and work.”
This year, more than 400 students from Alliance Elementary and the Alliance Early Learning School participated in the contest. The winning students include:
- Kindergarten – Alivia Ganni and Aniya Lott
- 1st grade – Charlie Clark, Nolan Catania and Sianna Battershell
- 2nd grade – Addison Sweger and Kylee Battershell
- 3rd grade – Haile Selassie, Kathlynn Briner, Andrew Aurther Horning and Benjamin Reairck
“I think our students here love participating in this contest, because it makes them think outside of the box and allows them to be creative,” said Cory Muller, principal at Alliance Elementary School. “Students love creating works of art and having Morgan Engineering partner with us is just an added bonus!”
Each winning student will receive their professionally framed artwork, as well as a $25 Dairy Queen gift card. Morgan also donated $1,000 to each elementary school in support of safety and STEM resources.
“The kindergarten and first grade students at AELS had so much fun creating safety pictures for the calendar,” said Holly Power, principal of Alliance Early Learning School. “This was a great opportunity for teachers and students to discuss safety procedures both at home and at school!”
Morgan’s core business includes the engineering, sales and service of overhead and gantry-type cranes, such as those used in steel mills. But a continuous pursuit of innovation has also led it into the high-tech fields of manufacturing automation and kinetic structures – including retractable stadium roofs. The company celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2019 and has called Alliance, Ohio home since 1871.
